Adobe Experience Manager 6+ uses the Apache Jackrabbit Oak repository. Jackrabbit 2 used in CQ5 indexed enough that any property of any node type could be searched on. The end result is that it could take a week to rebuild the search indexes for a large site in Jackrabbit 2. Jackrabbit Oak introduced indexes that have laser-like focus. The developer can tune indexes for exactly the searches that are needed. Indexes can be customized and are saved within the repository.
